Race + Paracas Beach + Machu Picchu Adventure Package

This is the full package.  I (Kelly Lynn—the crazy runner organizing Run In Peru adventures) am an American living in Peru for the last 12 years, and I can guarantee that after having travelled this country for years, there is no better way to visit Peru if you have 8-12 days, than jumping on this unbelievable 3-part adventure:

  1. Run in a race, anywhere from 5k to 100k, in the Amazon Jungle, the Desert, or the Andes Mountains
  2. Spend 3D/4N at Paracas National Reserve beach, soaking up the sun and enjoying once-in-a-lifetime activities including: Sandboarding, Dune Buggying, Paragliding, Stand Up Paddleboarding, and Pisco Tasting! And lastly,
  3. 4D/4N Visiting Cusco and Hiking the Salkantay Trek to the Incan Empire of Machu Picchu

Machupicchu

You will arrive to Cusco at night and start the process of acclimating.

The first day, you will continue to  acclimate as you adventure on a Cusco City Tour and learn about the history of  the Incan Empire while walking the streets of Cusco and visit 4 megalithic archaeological sites: Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomacha.  Free afternoon to shop and wonder Cusco.

The second, third, and last day in Cusco will be trekking the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu.  The Salkantay Trek is an alternative trail to the Inca Trail. It is much less trekked by tourists and arguably the most beautiful trek in Incan Empire.  The entire Salkantay Trek is typically hiked over 5D/4N. Here traveling with Run in Peru, we will be hiking 37km over 2 full days including one night of camping, covering the majority of the trail by foot, and most likely trekking at a slightly higher pace than most tourist groups.    We will hike past turquoise glacier lakes, Inca ruins, and through trails of the ancient Empire up to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu, before spending the last day exploring the famous UNESCO World Hertage Site, Peruvian Historcial Sanctuary and New Seventh Wonder of the World (2007): Machu Picchu.

If you book ahead, add a note to include the Waynapichu trek on for only additional 20usd, which will be paid upon arrival, but we will reserve your spot!  Waynapichu offers breathtaking views over Machu Picchu up a very steep, slightly frightening—but totally worth it—mountain.  This will be very early before touring Machu Picchu, but is subject to availability.

Salkantay

Why Salkantay Trek? We believe it is more beautiful and less crowded than the Inca Trail

Why 3day Salkantay Trek instead of the normal 5day? No other reason than that not everyone has unlimited vacations and finding time to do a 5D trek after participating in a race AND exploring Paracas is not easy.  This version is a bit shortened, but we will still hike nearly 70% of the trail, without missing highlights.  We know you are runners, we know you are fit, and often more than not, without endless time to travel, so this trip has been designed for you!

Be Prepared, the altitude may affect you!
Starting Altitude - 2900m / 9515ft.
Highest Altitude - 4650m / 15,200ft
During the night of camping, the outside temperature may get as  low as 0º C, or 32º F. Tents are provided, along with other camping gear needed. You can rent or bring our own sleeping bag.
